The Supposed Science of Taste

Here, you will find a diagram of the Human Tongue and it's basic flavor receptors.



So, as you taste something, and "experience" that flavor (or taste) on the back of your tongue, you would probably say that that taste is a

bitter one.


If the flavor "hit's you" on the sides of your tongue, that taste is probably

sour
(more toward the back)


or

salty (more toward the front)

and

Lastly, experiences more near the front of your tongue lend a

sweet
flavor or taste.
